Animation - Walk cycle

This is my 2D drawn 'Walk Cycle' animation. It was produced using Adobe Flash and a graphics tablet. This was an extremely difficult piece for me to produce as creating a realistic walk within animation is hard to accomplish. To help me I used The Animators Survival Kit Expanded Edition (Williams, 2009).

I used these, along side many others, to guide me when producing the piece. I felt William's explanation of 'A Bouncy Walk' was most understandable. I did however have use other diagram for 'High-Point' references as I wanted a more conventional high point, which is usually the 'Push Up' position rather than the 'Contact' position.

I am very happy with the results of my piece however I  think the timing of the arms could of been improved if more time was available.

Animation - Weight

This is my 2D drawn 'Weight' animation. It was produced using Adobe Flash and a graphics tablet. I really wanted to express my understanding of the weight principle and I thought the subject of a waterbed would be perfect for displaying weight. I've tried my best to make sure all the elements in the piece move according to their relative gravity to add a sense of realism. Elements were animated on a mixture of 2's and 1's to create the desired realistic sense of weight.

I feel this piece has a good result. I didn't realise how time consuming this animation would be but again i've learnt that time management is extremely important in animation.

Animation - Morph

This is my 2D drawn 'Morph' animation. It was produced using Adobe Flash and a graphics tablet. I began the piece with the two image's, a octopus and a light bulb, either side of the timeline and then went in and 'In-betweened' between the two frame's by hand, working on 2's.

I'm quite happy with the result of this piece as the motion is quite smooth and fluid, which I feel is important to this kind of technique. I've learnt that effective, drawn animation takes time to produce and therefore will plan my time more effectively for future hand drawn animation.
